This year I’ve been very privileged to do my first shoots for a new client, Broad Arrow Auctions. My brief is to photograph some lovely pieces from a private collections. Create eye catching and factual imagery for their online auction catalogues.
Swiss Road Trip
I got to drive a 1700 mile road trip to Switzerland and back to shoot this amazing consignment. Even though I knew what I was going there to photography it still made me gasp when I saw them all. I gave a HiRes digital version of this photo to the owner…then he could have it turned into wallpaper in case he misses his collection!
Motorsport Memorabilia…
We’ve all played this game as a kid… ‘You can only choose 1 to take home, which would it be?” For me of all the items I shot today it had to be 1 of only 2 Graham Hill helmets from the 1960s. As for drivers then there is no bigger memory for me than the iconic dark blue and white arrows of Graham Hill. You could spot him instantly…. I guess it could arguably be one of the earliest examples ‘branding’ in motorsport itt was quite a thrill to be around these fantastic F1 collectables, quite literally sometimes having motorsport history in my hands. Petroliana Sale
Now this was very different…. Another road trip, this time to photography a collection of automotive enamel signage and petrol pumps. This collection was going into Broad Arrow Auctions, Petroliana Sale. Going twice…Going three times…SOLD
More of these collection items from the shoots can be seen on the Broad Arrow Auctions – Results section.
It was really quite exciting watching the auction bidding live online. A lot of the items are way too much money but I have the best ‘F1 Crash Helmet Collection‘ in the world anyway….well on my Ian Skelton Photography hard drive that is!! I wonder what lovely treasures I’ll get to see and shoot for them next?
