Forza Historic Racing Pre Monaco Historique shakedown at Pembrey
” Hi, its Nick from Forza Historic Racing Team. I don’t know if you’re free on Thursday? We’re taking the cars to Pembrey for a Pre Monaco Historique shakedown…fancy coming down?” I love phone calls like that…!!!
The Masters Historic Racing Test Day at Brands Hatch in March had got my season rolling. I was more than ready to get trackside again & have my rib cage rattled by an F1 car!!
The weather was forecast was warm & bright for the day. Forza Historic Racing Team had brought some incredible machinery down for a 2 day test. This was to be their final run out to check everything was perfectly set up. Iron out any niggles before the cars would go into the transporters for the long drive down to Monaco. It is fascinating to watch the technicians fine tune these awesome racing cars after each run.
The Monaco Historic Grand Prix runs every 2 years. It is a massive date in the diary for historic racing teams. Often taking precedence over a championship round in order to compete around the iconic circuit. So no detail is missed to give the cars the very best chance of coming away with a trophy. Test days like this or ‘shakedown’ as they are known, are a vital part of the preparations. The team would be taking 7 cars to Monaco…they all needed time on track.
As well as the modern looking F1 cars….
Forza Historic Racing would be taking 2 beautiful, or as the Boss says…”sexy” Lotus 16s from the 1950s.
They are a very pretty racing car in their iconic green & yellow Lotus colours. ….& what a sound they make!! Loud & deep roar as they blast past lap after lap through the Welsh countryside.
A brief stop for lunch & then it was back out on track to shakedown 3 more F1 cars.
As a photographer there are so many great images to be had at a racing circuit & not just on the track. Here are just a few from around the Pit lane
The next time I see these cars it will be in the iconic setting of the Monaco Grand Prix circuit….. I cannot wait 🙂
